Scottish Highland Games are the oldest continuous highland games in North America. First held in 1863, the Antigonish Highland Games are a mid-July tradition and welcome visitors and participants from across the globe. The Antigonish Highland Games are put on annually by the the Antigonish Highland Society, who are at work preparing for their 150th anniversary in the 2011. While attending the Antigonish Highland Games, visitors can enjoy the heavy events, highland dancing, piping and drumming, concerts, ceilidhs, and much more.

Antigonish Heritage Museum
is a community museum that strives to preserve and promote a cultural understanding of the hertage of Antigonish Town and County. Housed in the former CN Rail Station Building, it is located at 20 East Main Street in the Town of Antigonish.

Festival Antigonish
  Twenty-one years ago, a group of community leaders in Antigonish -- made up of an alliance of business people, academics, and theatre lovers -- came together with the goal of forming a professional theatre company. They appointed a Managing Director, secured a performance space at St. Francis Xavier University -- and what was to become Nova Scotia's first and longest running professional repertory company -- Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre -- was born.

Day Trips


Sunrise Trail to Cape George; see a lighthouse, visit beaches, look for fossils at Arisaig Park... and more! Allow 1 hour for nearby trail, more to enjoy and explore the area.

  Sherbrooke Village depicts a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-WW1.  With approximately 80 buildings, over 25 of those open to the public, it is the largest Nova Scotia Museum site. Visit the woodturner shop, blacksmith, pottery shop, and printery. During your visit, enjoy a delicious, light meal at the What Cheer Tea Room located within the Village. The village is 45 minutes from Shebby's.
